Check the points and condenser as well.ĭon't know where you got your forklift, but if used, LP runs so clean they seldom are maintained well. I had to replace my coil on my LP forklift a few years ago, did what you describe. We are pretty ignorant about LP engines so any ideas would be appreciated. Starter is turning over strong and has a really good battery so that is not the problem. Tank is a little over 3/4 so plenty of fuel. It is sputtering again like it wants to go but just can't get it going. We have tried several times over the last few days and just can not get it to fire. We shut it off and it sat about two weeks until we wanted to use it again a few days ago. Finally got it started and used it for an hour and it worked fine. The engine cranked fine and was sputtering like it just wasn't quite getting enough fuel to fire completely. Hooked the full tank up to the forklift and it took about 30 minutes and at least 30 times of trying the starter to finally get the engine to start. We thought maybe the tank was too low to supply enough gas so we had it filled. It ran fine when we got it until the fuel tank got down to around 1/8 left and then it didn't want to idle.
